Input required to address Non-Tariff Measures
The processed food export sector is increasingly facing non-tariff measures (NTMs). Non-tariff measures are requirements that countries apply to traded goods separate to ordinary customs tariffs. They can affect international trade by impacting quantities, prices and increased risk and cost for the exporters.
The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC), with funding support from the Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment (DAWE), is undertaking a study of NTMs affecting the exports of Australian processed food. The findings of this important study will enable the Government and the industry to develop strategies to address and/or mitigate NTMs.
The AFGC invites Australian processed food exporters to help identify the NTMs and comment on trade barriers specific to their industry.
