Regulatory Reform

The AFGC regulatory reform programs aim to shape a business environment conducive to productivity and growth. The AFGC proactively represents and advocates on behalf of our industry and members, ensuring we remain the most respected voice of the industry and continue to play a key role in policy and regulatory discussions.

The work under this key program is varied and includes:

  • Monitoring and advocating compliance with best practice regulation principles
  • Policy engagement with officials and enforcers
  • Making submissions in relation to food and non-food regulatory measures in areas such as –
    • Australian Consumer Law (including origin labelling)
    • ANZ Food Standards Code
    • National measurement legislation
    • Industrial chemicals regulation
    • Over-the-counter therapeutic goods regulation
