The EU has asked Australia to protect 236 spirit names and 172 agricultural and other foodstuff names as GIs in Australia. The names relate to a range of sectors including, dairy, meat, smallgoods, horticulture, confectionery, oils, beer and spirits.  View the detailed list here.

IP Australia is currently undertaking a consultation with the industry on the type of system changes that may be considered in the event a negotiated outcome gave rise to changes to the way Australia currently protects GIs.

Join this webinar to hear from IP Australia and DFAT negotiators and seek any clarifications on the GIs and on the consultation process.
