AFGC’s Corporate Affairs Committee provides policy advice to the AFGC Board on strategic issues affecting the food, beverage and grocery industry, specifically in relation to reputation management and crisis management. This committee coordinates and fosters initiatives across the food, beverage and grocery industry that promote a responsible and responsive industry. Key areas include the Responsible Children’s Marketing Initiative, the Industry Advocacy Strategy and promoting the need for a national food and grocery agenda.
Health, Nutrition and Scientific Affairs
The Health, Nutrition and Scientific Affairs Committee plays a vital role in providing expert advice on a range of regulatory issues that affect the food and grocery products industry. Key priority areas include food safety, food labelling, food processing techniques and regulatory policy.
Supply Chain
The efficiency of the supply chain is a critical factor when determining a company’s competitiveness. AFGC’s Supply Chain Committee explores opportunities along the chain that promote fair competition, efficiency and profitable growth, while meeting consumers’ needs. This includes regulation and legislation, trading partner relations and initiatives, global best practice, and energy trends.
Sustainable Practices
Responsible and informed environmental management is fundamental to sustained growth of our industry. AFGC’s Sustainable Practices Committee considers ways to improve industry profitability through the efficient use of resources and adds to the value of brands through promotion of corporate responsibility and stewardship. Key priority areas are the sustainable use of energy, carbon emissions, water security and efficiency and food and packaging waste.
